CT equipment is typically installed indoors where people need to walk past crowds of patients before arriving at the scanning machines, which increases the risk of cross-infection. In contrast, the mobile CT unit is installed in a stand-alone manner, outside a fever clinic, which enables patients to walk into CT scanning rooms directly, Yang said.

In addition, the unit has separate access for entry and exit for medical staff and patients.

At eight meters long and three meters wide, the CT unit is equipped with facilities for both scanning and carrying out ultraviolet disinfection. The unit maintains a constant temperature, is waterproof and is insulated from heat and cold.
