Shanghai to ramp up talent recruitment

To establish a more competitive system for gathering talent, Shanghai will refine its policies related to talent acquisition and reduce the time needed for certain professionals to obtain permanent household registration in the municipality, the city's mayor Ying Yong said at the opening ceremony of the annual meeting of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, the city's legislative body, on Wednesday.
"Talent is our principal resource. We will embrace talent with an inclusive mind, retain them by offering a pleasant environment to live and work in and help them thrive by offering a stage with bright prospects. These efforts will make Shanghai a magnet for talent from near and far, and a land to pursue and realize their dreams," Ying said.
The mayor added Shanghai will also be exploring professional title evaluation and diversifying its evaluation methods for skilled talent across different disciplines and in emerging sectors this year.
