Hong Kong's liaison chief, Luo Huining, has pledged his office will continue to serve as a bridge between the special administrative region and Guangdong province in the building of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote the steady implementation of the "one country, two systems" principle.

The new director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR made the remarks during his first meeting with Guangdong Party Secretary Li Xi and Governor Ma Xingrui on Sunday.

Both sides agreed to jointly promote the development of the 11-city cluster and to further enhance cross-border cooperation based on mutual benefits, while strictly upholding "one country, two systems".

Thanking the province for the support it has extended to the liaison office, Luo stressed that the office will continue to strive to promote the shared prosperity of development of Hong Kong and Guangdong by facilitating collaboration in various sectors.

This included economic and trading investment, innovation and entrepreneurship and exchanges of personnel, he added.
