Qingdao upset Liaoning, Jilin avoid straight loss

BEIJING - Darius Adams had another magical night on Tuesday.

The Qingdao Eagles guard delivered sensational 49 points, 12 rebounds and six assists, including a buzzer-beater fade-away jump shot, to carry his team past former champions Liaoning Flying Leopards 103-101 in an 18th round game of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

The two teams drew at 101-101 with 2.4 seconds left. The final shot from Adams bounced twice on the rim, but finally dropped into the basket.

Liaoning star duo Lance Stephenson and Guo Ailun combined 30 shooting attempts, but only made four of them.

Qingdao moved up to the 11th place in CBA standings, while Liaoning remained in the fourth.

With six players notching double figures, the reigning CBA champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers smashed Jiangsu Dragons 143-108.

Star player Yi Jianlian posted 27 points plus 15 rebounds for Guangdong and his teammates, Marshon Brooks and Sonny Weems consistently offered help as they contributed 51 points.

Jilin Northeast Tigers avoided a losing streak after taking down Shenzhen Aviators 103-101. Jilin shooter Dominique Jones scored as many as 55 points.

Jilin has won five out of their recent six games, climbing up to fifth place in the rankings.

Both Beijing teams ended the day with victories. Visiting Beijing Royal Fighters successfully fought back in the last quarter to seal a 99-95 victory over Shanghai Sharks. Beijing Ducks breezed past Zhejiang Lions 105-95 on home court.

Fujian Sturgeons continued recovering from the terrible start of the season. A 122-103 victory over Guangzhou Loong Lions extended their winning streak to three games.

Elsewhere, Nanjing Monkey Kings lost 113-116 to Tianjin Pioneers, Shandong Heroes defeated Sichuan Blue Whale 119-103, Xinjiang Flying Tigers edged Bayi Rockets 102-97.
