JERUSALEM - Israeli basketball champions Maccabi Tel Aviv has signed 33-year-old guard Aaron Jackson, who recently played for China's Zhejiang Lions, the Israeli club announced Monday night.

Jackson will join head coach Ioannis Sfairopoulos' roster following the injuries of John Dibartolomeo and Nate Wolters.

Jackson played at Duquesne College and in 2009 he began his European career, joining Turkey's Antalya BB.

Jackson later played for Virtus Bologna, Bilbao Basket and CSKA Moscow. He completed five seasons (2012-2017) with the Russian club, taking part in winning the Euroleague title in 2016.

In the summer of 2017, Jackson signed a two-year contract with the Beijing Ducks of the CBA League.

In 2018, he joined the Houston Rockets and participated in eight NBA games, scoring a total of 13 points in 52 minutes.

Later that year he returned to the Ducks and recorded a rare triple-double against Shanghai Sharks (32 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists).

Jackson finished the 2018/19 season with 40 games and averaged 25 points per game (40.4 percent from three), 7.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 25 points in 32.9 minutes per evening.

This season, he played 15 games in the Zhejiang Lions and provided 16 points, 10.1 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals.

Jackson's last game in China was last Tuesday (December 10), in the Lions' 97-112 loss to Guangdong Southern Tigers, in which he scored seven points.

Jackson said: "I'm excited to put on that yellow jersey and help my teammates make the city of Tel Aviv proud. Can't wait to play in front of the best fans in Europe."

Sfairopoulos added: "Jackson is a very experienced player in the Euroleague and has quality inside and outside the court. I am very happy that we will have him with us helping and jelling into the already quality roster that we have".
