Public opinion sought on government work
An online initiative entitled "I Want to Say to the Premier" was launched on Tuesday by the central government to solicit opinion and suggestions on its work. People can send their opinion on 20 topics, including poverty reduction, business environment, employment, education and elderly care, via www.gov.cn and the State Council app. The initiative runs until the conclusion of the annual sessions of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in March. Public input will be forwarded to organizations responsible for drafting the Report on the Work of the Government next year. It is the sixth time that public opinion has been sought on the government report.
500-year-old eggshells intact in Ming tomb
Archaeologists in Sichuan province have found a jar of rice and unbroken eggshells that date back more than 500 years. The jar was discovered from a Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) tomb in a park in Guang'an, Sichuan, said Tang Yunmei, curator of the Guang'an City Museum. Its epitaph suggests the tomb belonged to Yang Ming, who died in 1501, and his two wives. The eggs were buried in the rice within the jar. The exact number of eggs in the jar has yet to be verified, researchers said. Tang said the stone tomb was well sealed and had good anti-moisture and corrosion designs.
