Son Heung-min named AFC Asian International Player of the Year

HONG KONG - Son Heung-min of South Korea was named the AFC Asian International Player of the Year for the third time as The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announced its annual awards here on Monday.
Son, who was also awarded the accolade in 2015 and 2017, has once again enjoyed an impressive season for his club.
12 goals and six assists in 31 appearances in the Premier League saw Son help Tottenham to finish fourth place in the 2018/19 standings, and Son was equally monumental in their UEFA Champions League campaign, where the Spurs made their first-ever appearance in the final but fell 2-0 to Liverpool.
Akram Hassan Afif of Qatar and Saki Kumagai of Japan won the AFC men's and women's Player of the Year respectively.
