BEIJING -- Chinese National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) on Friday released four archeological discoveries in western China, showcasing proof of cultural exchange along the ancient Silk Road.

The discoveries involved a military fortress in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, two tombs in Qinghai province and one tomb in Gansu province, said the NCHA.

The exquisite relics from a tomb found in Qinghai featured strong Western and Central Asian styles, which proved that the location where the relics were found used to be a hub in the cultural exchange between the East and the West, the NCHA said.

More archeological discoveries are expected with further excavation and research along the ancient Silk Road, said Song Xinchao, deputy director of the NCHA.
