Seven people were rescued and two were still missing after a boat collision on Wednesday night in East China's Fujian province as of Thursday morning, according to Haibo TV, a news app of the Fujian Media Group.

Fujian maritime search and rescue center received an alert around 9:50 pm on Wednesday that a Taiwan general cargo ship "Changxin" had collided with a boat on its way from Mawei to Matsu.

After the collision, all nine people aboard the ship, of whom six were from Taiwan and three from Indonesia, escaped using life rafts.

So far, Fujian's provincial maritime search and rescue center has sent three patrol boats, professional rescue ships and a helicopter to search and save the missing. More than 10 other boats are also engaged in the rescue.
