Tourism industry drives rural revitalization

Since Shawo village of Foping county is located at a water source, it cannot develop agriculture. To protect the drinking water, Shawo village began to develop ecotourism.

Now, there are nine village hotels with 60 rooms. In 2018, Shawo saw 18,000 visitors. These hotels also help poor households sell local products.

The village has its own power and water supplies, and is able to mend and maintain the roads. These lay a solid foundation for prosperous tourism.
