Yang Wenming, a 91-year old retiree who set up a scholarship of 200,000 yuan ($29,050) to help poor students, has won praise among netizens this graduation season.

Though not wealthy himself, Yang, who hails from Zhenjiang in East China's Jiangsu province, offered in the second half of 2015 to donate 200,000 yuan to Jiangsu University to establish a scholarship to assist students from poor families enrolled in the university. The money was the largest amount of individual donation to freshmen received by the university and paid for the education of 10 students.
