Chongqing displays largest outdoor thermometer

A huge thermometer on an exterior wall of Meixin Wine Plaza in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area has attracted a lot of public attention recently.
It is said to be the largest outdoor thermometer in the city.
It looks like a giant red ruler with the highest scale of 45 C and the lowest -5 C.
It uses outdoor temperature sensing technology to control the LED lighting system to showcase the real-time outdoor temperature.
The city in Southwest China is known as one of the three “furnaces” in China due to its extremely high temperatures during summer time.
The average temperature is about 37 C in summer and sometimes it can reach 43 degrees.
The other two “furnaces” are Nanjing in East China’s Jiangsu province and Wuhan in Central China’s Hubei province.
