Seven detained following deadly roof collapse
Seven people have been detained over their alleged connection to a roof collapse accident at a bar in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, according to the local authority on Tuesday.
The death toll in the collapse, which occurred at about 1 am on Monday in Baise city, rose to six; 87 were injured.
Rescue work was completed on Tuesday afternoon when all the missing were found, according to the provincial fire control department.
The collapse took place when a number of customers had to stay in the bar because of heavy rain.
Those detained include two shareholders, the manager, the designer, the builder and the bar's staff.
With a floor space of 700 square meters on the top floor of a three-story steel-framed building, the bar - 0776Plus Club - opened for business in January.
The local government set up a work team to launch an investigation into the cause of the accident but hasn't made any conclusion.
Guangxi government vowed on Tuesday to overhaul safety supervision in all fields across the entire region, especially in places with a high density of people, as well as the construction industry, to remove potential safety hazards and prevent accidents.
