President Xi outlined his commitment to open and green development as well as underlined China's dedication to conserving the ecosystem now and for generations to come.
Xi's call for countries to work together for the common goal of improving the global ecosystem aligns well with the Paris Agreement. This is an excellent follow-on from the commitment outlined in the communique from the Belt and Road Forum.
In this communique, to which the UAE is a signatory, countries agreed that cooperation will be open and clean, with green development promoted.
And the challenges of environmental protection and climate change were addressed, including the need to enhance our cooperation to implement the Paris Agreement.
President Xi's commitment to ecological development and the pursuit of harmony between man and nature are important steps.
As leader of the world's second-largest economy, people within the People's Republic of China will take notice, as will those around the world, thus furthering the cause of ecological protection.
Xi will serve to inspire businesses and young people in China to join the cause.
