Wellbeing of Chinese must be achieved by own efforts: Xi
BEIJING -- President Xi Jinping highlighted "the heroic fight" of the Chinese people for national rejuvenation at a gathering to mark the centenary of the May Fourth Movement Tuesday.
The development of Chinese society, the national rejuvenation and people's wellbeing must be achieved by the Chinese through their own heroic efforts, said Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, when addressing the gathering.
"A bright China is not a gift that can be given by anybody," he said.
As long as the Chinese people and the nation have the courage to fight and sacrifice themselves for changing their destiny, the country will surely become prosperous and strong and national rejuvenation will be realized, he said.
