Play to Proliferate - Sign City

What Streetscapes are one of the many defining aspects of the character of a city. In Hong Kong, signboards once proliferated on the streets and shaped the tall, small city's distinctive neonscape, and one which features prominently in the work of iconic film director Wong Kar-wai. Through Play to Proliferate - Sign City, at Oi! in North Point, architects Kevin Mak King-huai and Ken Fung Tat-wai intend to promote greater awareness of signboards among the general public by researching, exploring and revealing stories behind their existence and intrinsic significance to our city. Sadly, neon has become less luminous as the pace of development continues to deprive the city of this iconic trademark.
