Stabbed doctor shows signs of recovery

A doctor suffering from stab wounds from the Central South Hospital of Wuhan University has been in critical condition since Dec 14.
The hospital announced through its official Weibo account on Thursday that the doctor is gradually reviving from a deep coma.
On the morning of Dec 14, the suspect, surnamed Zeng (male, 51 years old), allegedly held a knife and stabbed the doctor, surnamed Zhang (male, 49 years old), several times on the fourth floor of the outpatient department, causing severe injuries to Zhang's head, neck and chest.
The doctor's intestines and great abdominal vessels were ruptured, while the suspect jumped to his death after the attack.
The doctors' association of Hubei province has issued a statement condemning the incident, and a joint working group on the case said it would severely punish violence and other crimes targeted at medical staff.
