Brazil seeks Pan American table tennis glory repeat


BEIJING -- Top seed Brazil are seeking to repeat their glory at the 2018 ITTF Pan American Championships in Santiago on Tuesday local time.
In just over one year ago in Cartagena da Indias, Colombia, Brazil won both the men's and women's titles in the first edition of the Pan American Championships in table tennis, in the former beating Argentina to secure gold, in the latter the United States.
In the second edition to be held in the Chilean capital city, Brazil are the top seeds in both disciplines.
Now in Santiago, Eric Jouti, Vitor Ishiy and Thiago Monteiro are once again named in the Brazilian line-up but there is no Hugo Calderano who is replaced by Humberto Manhani.
In the women's team, Caroline Kumahara and Jessica Yamada join the team and Gui Lin and Bruna Takahashi are present as well.
A total of 15 teams will compete in the men's team event and there are 12 women's teams.
