Residents in a small village 300 kilometers northwest of Beijing used to plant corn and potatoes for living. However, a village official assigned there to support poverty alleviation work has changed their lifestyle by bringing yoga to them.
With stronger bodies, the elderly farmers will be able to save on medical expenses. Lu Wenzhen, the village's Party secretary, also plans to take the villagers to do a yoga performance at the opening ceremony of the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
