Rising to the top: Chinese in the IOC

After Chinese speed skater Zhang Hong was elected to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athletes' Commission on Sunday, let's take a look at other Chinese elected by the IOC in the past.
He Zhenliang (1929-2015)
He was a politician and diplomat. He served as vice-president of the IOC and chairman of the IOC's Culture and Olympic Education Commission.
He was elected to the IOC in 1981. In 1985, he was named to the executive board of IOC, and subsequently served three 5-year terms (1985-1989,1994-1998,1999-2003). He was elected the vice-president of the IOC in 1989, and served one term (1989-1993).
He Zhenliang played a key role in Beijing's bid for the 2008 Summer Olympics with his excellent language skills and personality.
