A villager armed with a slingshot cracked a window on a high-speed train after it stopped in Dalian, Liaoning province, police said on Wednesday.
The incident happened at Zhuanghebei Station on Saturday when a man, surnamed Sun, fired a steel shot at the train, leaving a small hole in a window, police said.
The shot was recovered from between the rails. Police also found similar shots as well as pieces of a shattered glass bottle near a fence about 100 meters from the tracks.
Sun admitted shooting glass bottles with a slingshot and launching a shot toward the train, but he said he did not expect it to crack the window.
He was detained for seven days as punishment.
