Proposals sought on Greater Bay Area construction
The chairman of the 13th Guangzhou Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference has asked members for suggestions on the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Liu Yuelun made the remarks at the opening ceremony for the second session of the Guangzhou Committee of the CPPCC on Wednesday.
“Guangzhou’s CPPCC members, including those who come from Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions, ... should actively put forward their valuable proposals for the construction of a world-class bay area in the future during the four-day session,” he said.
“Meanwhile the city’s CPPCC members should also play a role in helping expand cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to contribute to the country’s Belt and Road Initiative,” Liu told 507 members attending the opening ceremony.
In addition to Hong Kong and Macao, the Greater Bay Area includes the cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Huizhou and Zhaoqing in Guangdong province.
The session will end on Saturday.
