City in Central China installs gates to regulate pedestrians

Wuhan, capital of Hubei province in Central China, has decided to regulate the illegal behaviors of pedestrians by installing automated gates at cross walks.
The gates will open when the light turns green and close when it is forbidden to walk across the zebra line. The government hopes the new facilities will regulate pedestrian behaviors and ameliorate traffic problems.
The machines are currently being tested the effects remain to be seen.
