October 12, 1937 was designated as founding day of the New Fourth Army
The New Fourth Army was founded October 12, 1937. Ye Ting formally began to form the headquarters of the New Fourth Army in Wuhan beginning November 12, 1937 after approval from the CPC Central Committee. The headquarters was established in Hankou on December 25, 1937 and moved to Nanchang, Jiangxi province on January 6, 1938. In 1939, people at the headquarters designated October 12 as the founding date of the New Fourth Army.
