Jan 8, 1954: CPC Central Committee issues Resolution on Developing Agricultural Producers' Cooperatives
On Jan 8, 1954, the CPC Central Committee issued the Resolution on Developing Agricultural Producers' Cooperatives.
The "Resolution" summed up the experience of holding cooperative society, guiding individual farmers to develop the cooperative society through such forms as 1) mutual-aid teams, 2) elementary producers' cooperatives and 3) advanced producers' cooperatives. This is the correct path for socialist transformation of agriculture.
By early 1955, the number of agricultural producers' cooperatives in China exceeded 480,000. In January 1955 the CPC Central Committee issued a "notice of reorganizing and consolidating agricultural producers' cooperatives" in order to solve problems in co-operative development.
In October 1955, the Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the CPC adopted the "Resolution on Agricultural Cooperation".
On June 30, 1956 the Third Session of the First NPC adopted and promulgated a guidline for developing advanced cooperatives, which summed up the experience of developing the agricultural cooperative movement from the primary stage to the advanced stage.
By the end of 1956, the socialist transformation of agriculture was basically completed.
