From January 3—5 the CPC Central Committee held a conference on rural work in Beijing. This meeting conveyed the instructions of Jiang Zemin: it is a necessary requirement for building a moderately prosperous society and accelerating socialist modernization to constantly consolidate and strengthen agriculture as the foundations of the new century.
