Beijing is planning to construct 80 thousand sq m of temporary Olympic facilities and buildings in 2008, including dining halls, cafés, toilets, garbage treatment plants, convenient stores and meeting rooms.
Some competitions will be held in temporary buildings, too. A number of temporary facilities will be used to provide entertainment and leisure to the public during the XXIX Olympiad. All the identifying items like advertising posters will be put on temporary facilities.
These temporary facilities and buildings will be constructed with eco-friendly materials, and it will take less than a week to build a very large temporary dining hall. Though it is easy both to build them and to pull them down, they are very dependable. The building materials of temporary facilities and buildings can be reused many times.
The prototypes of these facilities and buildings will make their first appearance in 2007.
