Vietnam, China exchange experience in ethnic affairs

HANOI - Vietnamese Vice-Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Tong Thi Phong held talks here Wednesday with visiting Vice-Chairman of the Chinese Ethnic Affairs Commission, Lie Que, on exchanging experience in ethnic affairs.

During talks, the NA Chairwoman emphasized that Vietnam always attaches great importance to developing the friendly neighborliness and comprehensive cooperation with the Party, State, National Assembly and people of China, considering this a consistent long-term policy.

Over the past years, the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and China has developed quickly, strongly and comprehensively in all fields. Both sides maintained the visits and meetings between the high-ranking leaders of the two countries, helping enhance the trust between the two Parties and countries, Phong said.

In the coming time, to enhance the efficiency of the ethnic affairs, the two sides should boost the exchange of groups, share experiences in building up policies and ethnic activities and coordinate in ethnic activities to bring benefits to the two peoples, she said.

Lie Que praised Vietnam's socio-economic achievements and expressed his desire to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between the NA's Ethnic Minorities Council and the Government's Ethnic Minorities Commission of the two countries.

During their visit, the Chinese delegates worked with the Vietnamese NA Ethnic Minorities Council and the Government's Ethnic Minorities Commission. The two sides exchanged viewpoints and shared information to help strengthen the traditional friendly relations between the two countries. They agreed on measures to promote cooperation in ethnic activities.

Earlier, the Chinese delegates worked with the Vietnamese NA Ethnic Minorities Council led by Chairman K'sor Phuoc, during which the two sides informed each other of their activities.
