MOSCOW - Russia is preparing retaliatory measures against the deployment of the US anti-missile system in eastern Europe, Russian envoy to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said in Moscow Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference, Rogozin also said Moscow will still continue talks with the US on the issue.

"Quite possibly, we'll combine the retaliatory steps with the continuation of talks, and the final saying on the issue belongs to the President," Rogozin said.

He also said that talks over the anti-missile defense between Russian and the US have been stalled and there are very little time remained to break the deadlock.

"There are not going to be any compromise, because we will change our position. And the Americans stubbornly offer things which are very difficult to use on practice," Rogozin said.

He stressed that Moscow's position has not been "rock solid" and Russia has offered various options to reach a compromise.

Moscow has long opposed the deployment of the US-led NATO missile defense facilities near its borders, saying they would be a security threat to the country and upset the strategic balance of force in Europe.
