VLADIVOSTOK, Russia - Heavy rains have lashed Khabarovsky Krai in the Russian Far East, washing away a bridge Friday.

The bridge, on the highway connecting the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur and Solnechny District, was swept away by floodwaters generated by the rain and repair work is now underway.

About 20 houses were flooded Thursday in Gorny Settlement.

The rain is continuing in Solnechny but is expected to weaken soon.
