JAKARTA - An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted southern Sumatra, Indonesia at 0016 GMT on Thursday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 37.80 km, was initially determined to be at 2.7547 degrees south latitude and 101.1866 degrees east longitude.
