Vietnamese president nominates VP, PM

HANOI -- After being elected Vietnam's state president on Monday afternoon, Truong Tan Sang presented the candidates of vice state president, prime minister, heads of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate  to the country's top legislature to vote.

Three of the four candidates are renominated, including Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, vice state president Nguyen Thi Doan and head of the Supreme People's Court Truong Hoa Binh. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Secretary of Quang Ngai provincial communist party committee, is nominated as the head of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

The National Assembly is widely expected to vote for the nominations on Tuesday. It will approve prime minister's proposal on appointing deputy prime ministers, ministers and other cabinet members.

The 1st session of the 13th NA is scheduled to last till August 6 to elect new government and state leaders.

NA deputies are also to focus discussions on some other important issues, including the country's socio-economy in 2011, the program of law making in 2012, approval of the state budget expenditure, and establishment of the committee on the draft amendment and supplement of the 1992 Constitution.
