BANGKOK - There is conflict within the Red-shirt movement, United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship ( UDD) former chairman Veerakarn Musikapong admitted on Monday.

Although, he admitted, Veerakarn said the conflict was of no great concern.

"There is no difference in principle because the Red-shirt members fight for the principle of democracy, not for cabinet portfolios.

"The UDD leaders will hold a meeting to find ways to end the conflict soon and I believe it can be resolved because we're like brothers and sisters," Veerakarn said.

He also denied as groundless the reports that he had talked with the fugitive former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

The conflict emerged when some hardcore factions in the movement demanded the acting headwoman Thida Thawornseth to step down so that they could elect the new leader by reasoning Thida is too dictatorial.
