Colombian Army kills 3 rebels

BOGOTA - The Colombian Army on Wednesday killed three rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and detained four others during an operation in Tolima department in the center-west of the country.

The operation was carried out in Venadillo municipality, where the troops of the 6th Brigade killed the rebels, including a rebel alias "Caballazo."

According to the Army, "Caballazo" was allegedly in charge of kidnapping businessmen.

Caballazo and two of his accomplices were killed, while the Army seized three fusils, five munitions suppliers, two assault equipments and a lot of war munitions.

Meanwhile, the troops of the "Patriotas (Patriots)" battalion, injured and detained a rebel alias "Silverio" in Santa Isabel municipality of Tolima, who joined FARC over 15 years ago.

In the same operation, the Army detained three other people, and seized two guns, one grenade, one mine of high explosive power and many management material.
