Nepal to hold int'l folk cultural festival

KATHMANDU - The Fifth International Folk Cultural Festival is to be organized on March 5-14 with the objective of promoting the Nepali culture and cultural tourism, the National News Agency RSS repored on Wednesday.

The organizers of the International Folk Cultural Festival said at a press conference Tuesday that the folk cultural festival will augment the Tourism Year-2011 that has been initiated with the main theme of "Together for Tourism".  

Coordinator of the Festival Ram Chandra Koirala said the main objective of the festival is to promote cultural exchange and cultural tourism in Nepal and also to consolidate world brotherhood, global peace and international relations.

The festival will be held in historic and tourism cities of Kathmandu, Surkhet, Palpa, Pokhara and Lalitpur, according to the organizers.

More than 350 artists associated with different cultural troupes from over 12 countries including France, Spain, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India and Nepal will participate in the festival.
