ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Supreme Court Monday witnessed panic following a security alarm ringing, forcing suspension of the court proceedings for a short while.
Proceedings in the courtroom No. 1 of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was in progress when all of sudden the security alarm began ringing.
The Chief Justice directed all the lawyers and attendees to leave for a safer place and the judges too vacated the courtroom for a short while.
The court's proceedings resumed after the security clearance from security officials.
According to Faqir Hussain, Registrar of the Supreme Court, the staff of Capital Development Authority (CDA) was working on the security alarm system of the apex court when the alarm button was mistakenly pressed.
He said that after the security clearance, the court resumed its normal routine hearing.
