PYONGYANG: A new type of microbial fertilizer had been developed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), local media reported on Tuesday.

The fertilizer, developed by the DPRK microbiological research institute, could increase the output of crops and help them resist severe weather conditions, Rodong Sinmun daily reported.

The fertilizer had been tested by researchers and now could be put into mass production, the daily said.

Its expiration time was also extended from a couple of days to one year, the newspaper added.
