Two killed, one injured in party shooting in western Canada

OTTAWA: Two men were killed and a third injured when some assailants opened fire at a party Friday night in the western Canadian city of Winnipeg, police said Saturday.

The violence happened midnight at a home in the Manitoba capital, where about 20 or 30 young people were having a party, reports reaching here said.

Police received call and arrived at the scene, finding the three victims.

Initial investigation suggested that a number of unidentified assailants shot the three victims with a large calibre weapon.

Police said it was too soon to say whether each of the victims had been targeted.

Both of the two killed are 18 years old and the one injured is 17 years.

Winnipeg is Canada's seventh largest city and has one of the highest crime rates in the country.
