Updated: 2009-10-28 09:37 PARIS: France Telecom said an employee at a Paris call center tried to commit suicide on the job Tuesday by overdosing on medication but was rescued by colleagues.
The company said the 32-year-old call center employee had been experiencing personal problems and that his workload had recently been lightened. His colleagues discovered his suicide attempt and had him taken to a hospital. His life was not in danger. France Telecom has put corporate restructuring on hold until at least the end of the year in a bid to ease stress among employees. The former state-run company laid off about 22,000 people in 2006-2008. |
