Ousted Honduras leader plans return next weekend

MANAGUA: Deposed Honduran President Manuel Zelaya plans to return home from exile next weekend, he said on Sunday after failing to reach an agreement with his rival to solve the country's political crisis.

"Next weekend we will have all the necessary activities (in place) for my return, as laid out in the law and the constitution and international mandates," he told reporters in the Nicaraguan capital of Managua.

It was the first time Zelaya has given a specific date for his return.
