Moncada called Costa Rica's mediation efforts "a failure" and said that the delegation would leave Costa Rica's capital San Jose and would not resume talks with the post-coup government.

However, she did not rule out possible future talks with a new representative.

The second round of talks ran from Saturday to Sunday, without reaching any agreement, despite mediator Costa Rican President Oscar Arias' proposing a compromise.
