Scotland Yard says an on-duty officer left a police-issue firearm unattended in a cafe last Friday. The gun was eventually found by a member of the public. Police say the officer has been suspended from duty while an internal inquiry is carried out.

The Sun reported Thursday that the Glock 17 lay on the toilet floor in a Starbucks near Blair's London home for 20 minutes before it was found by a member of staff, who called police.

Only a small minority of British police officers are authorized to carry guns.
