A Russian Tu-154 entered half a kilometer into the Finnish airspace at 10:55-10:58 am local time (0855-0858 GMT), southwest of Porvoo on Finland's southern coast, said the statement.

"This is being investigated by the border guard. We don't have much detail yet. In general, we have always asked for an explanation (in such incidents)," Defense Ministry spokesman JyrkiIivonen said.

Iivonen said it was unclear whether it was a transport or some other kind of plane.

This was the second such incident this year, said the statement. In September in the same area, a Russian Ilyushin-76 transport plane crossed into Finnish airspace. Russia later expressed regret for the violation, calling it an unintentional incursion.
