Pyongyang -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) lashed out at the United States Tuesday for deploying fighter planes and a nuclear submarine in US bases in South Korea.

"Such moves are a part of the US... hostile policy toward the DPRK," said the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). "The above-said deployment and frenzied nuclear war exercises by the US are evidently an open challenge to the DPRK, its dialogue partner," said the KCNA.

"This is contrary to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the September 19 joint statement," it added.

The DPRK said it has to beef up its self-defense force in face of challenges from the United States.

"There is no other option but to increase the military capabilities for self-defense in every way," said the KCNA.
