Trip to Mars lures applicants

A project that includes a one-way trip to Mars has attracted at least 450 Chinese applicants. Mars One, a Dutch company, plans to take humans to Mars in 2023, but they will not return to Earth.

据《中国日报》报道，荷兰"火星一号"近日宣布将在2023年启动火星单程之旅，他们将"只去不回"。

The project drew more than 37,000 applicants from all over the world. Wang Wenming, one of the Chinese applicants, a geology engineer from Kunming, said he is not afraid of the no-return trip. "I think the project is worth dying for. I'm serious about this, or I wouldn't try so hard to improve my English," he added.

在他们目前收到的全球3.7万多个报名意向中，中国人竟然达到450多名。申请者之一、来自昆明的地质工程师王文明说："我不怕回不来，为这一项目即使牺牲了也是值得的。我说真的，要不我不会这么努力在学英文。"
