China grabs 3 dance golds at East Asian Games

HONG KONG: China showed its strength outside traditional sports by winning three of the first five golds in the dance competition at the East Asian Games in Hong Kong on Sunday.

Chinese pairings clinched gold in the waltz, the tango and the slow fox-trot. South Korean and Japanese couples won the Viennese waltz and the quickstep.

Thirty-six golds are up for grabs on day two of, with eight in the swimming pool. China's Liu Zige, the world record holder in the 200-meter butterfly, is scheduled to make her first appearance.

There will also be medals in rugby sevens, shooting, squash, table tennis and taekwondo.
