Zhang Yining/Wang Nan, both are grand-slam winners, took the opening set 12-10 over Haruna Fukuoka/Tasei from Japan.

Overshadowed by their powerful Chinese opponents, the Japanese pair seemed difficult to hold their nerves and made a string of errors.

Toned with no leaks, Zhang/Wang struck hard and snatched down their opponents 3-0 within 30 minutes.

Another Chinese duo Guo Yue/Li Xiaoxia knocked out Kwak Bang Bang/Lee Dun Hee from South Korea 3-0 with little challenge.

The quarter-final will be held on Saturday.
