CHENGDU - Chengdu competition zone organizers to the 2007 China Women's World Cup have promised to offer the best service during the tournament.

Gu Jianming, general secretary of Chengdu football association, told media at a press conference here on Monday that the local organizing committee has done as best as they can to serve the quadrennial tournament slated on September 10-30 in five cities of China.

"We've prepared for a whole year and gotten ready to be a nice host," he said. "The stadium in Chengdu may not be the best, but we promise to serve best to both the teams and the spectators."

Chengdu Sports Center Stadium, in the down town of the capital city of Sichuan Province, Southwest China, was built over a decade ago and will be pulled down after hosting the 2007 Women's World Cup, while all four other sites for the tournament are more modern building with better establishments.

"Though the stadium is an old-timer, our pitch is among the best in China," said Gu, who seemed confident ahead of the first game in Chengdu, as former world champions the United States set to kick off the Group B campaign against DPR Korea Tuesday afternoon.

"Also we've worked hard as a team to solve problems invovling in hosting the matches, such as security, traffic, medical and fan control, etc.," he added.

As the competition site to hold 2/3 of the Group of Deatch matches, Chengdu have an impressive achievement in ticket-selling. Each match will expect around 30,000 spectators in the stadium with a capacity of just over 36,000.
