According to the Pakistani government, up to 20 million people have now been affected by the monsoon floods. At least 1,500 are known to have lost their lives

Pakistan ordered fresh evacuations from southern Sindh on Thursday as the country struggled to bring relief to millions already displaced by flooding and sought international help to rescue its economy. In northern Sindh, local authorities issued a new evacuation order for Shahdadkot, a town of about 300,000, for the remaining few tens of thousands of people to leave as floodwaters approached the town.

A 55-member Chinese rescue team left here for Pakistan Thursday morning to help with relief efforts following devastating floods in the south Asian country.

The team, which is from the China International Search and Rescue Team (CISAR), comprises of 36 medical workers and 19 rescue workers and technicians, according to the China Earthquake Administration (CEA).
