Economic growth of Liangjiang given boost with hi-tech expo

The China Hi-Tech Fair and International Exhibition of Military and Civil Technologies, which took place from June 21-24, injected new economic impetus to Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area, according to local media on June 24.

At the expo, which highlighted the latest developments in civilian and military technologies, Liangjiang invited 14 hi-tech companies to showcase their latest achievements in aerospace carriers, 3D printing, smart robots and unmanned vehicles.

Covering an exhibition area of more than 300 square meters, Liangjiang companies centered on two themes—the digital economy and technology innovation, which, in the long-term, are seen as being pivotal elements in the transformation of industries and high-quality development in the new area.

Exhibitions related to the digital economy, in particular, were hugely popular visitor attractions during the hi-tech expo.

Social Credits Inc, one of Chongqing's most well-known AI startups, showed off its brand-new risk management website and big data service platform, which it hopes will give emerging startups reliable financial "umbrellas".

With a total investment of four billion yuan ($0.6 billion), ZBJ.com, China's largest crowd-sourcing platform, announced during a sub-forum that it will build a financial center to drive forward the booming digital economy in Liangjiang.

In recent years, Liangjiang New Area has been carrying out an innovative development strategy featuring big data and smart technologies.

The number of hi-tech companies In Liangjiang New Area is increasing rapidly and reached 261, a 46.6 percent year-on-year growth, in 2017.

Additionally, following a 85.4 percent surge compared with the same period last year, up to 343 patents were granted to local companies engaged in the digital economy and civilian and -military technologies.
